Greenberg Glusker Partner Bonnie Eskenazi Honored as a Top Entertainment Litigator In California

Daily Journal Recognizes Powerhouse Counselor to Tolkien Estate, Marvel, and Music Superstars

Greenberg Glusker today announced that its partner, entertainment litigator, Bonnie E. Eskenazi is among the Daily Journal’s 2009 “Top 100 Women Litigators” in California, a distinction published today by the legal newspaper. This is the fourth year that Ms. Eskenazi has been included in the listing, in recognition of her ongoing achievements in high-profile disputes and transactions for entertainers, authors and rights holders.  Her clients include the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien, Marvel Entertainment, film music composer Hans Zimmer, opera singer Renée Fleming and violinist Joshua Bell, among others.  
 
“Bonnie is a mainstay on ‘best of’ lists because of her extraordinary success in both large and small litigation matters,” said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Norman H. Most recently, Ms. Eskenazi represented CBS in the widely covered “Two and a Half Men” lawsuit involving CBS studios and Warner Bros. She is litigation counsel to Marvel Entertainment, and represents the Tolkien estate in a $150 million profit-participation case against New Line Cinema arising out of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
 
Past notable matters include representation of Jeffrey Katzenberg in his profit participation case against The Walt Disney Co., defense of Paramount Pictures against the Estate of Jim Garrison in its landmark antitrust class action, and obtaining the return of the character rights to “Alvin & The Chipmunks” from Universal Studios.
 
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Eskenazi maintains an active entertainment transactional practice. Her representation of clients in the music industry reflects her personal passion for music. She serves on the board of the Festival of New American Musicals, which highlights and celebrates the American Musical as an art form by spotlighting new musicals written by famous and promising composers.
