Greenberg Glusker today announced that it has been named as a finalist by Chambers USA Women in Law Awards 2012 in its category for Best Mentoring Program in a Law Firm. The nominated mentoring initiative is part of the Firm’s successful, all-women group marketing program spearheaded by entertainment litigator Bonnie E. Eskenazi. The marketing group, which mingles entertainment litigators and transactional attorneys, has multiple generations of attorneys as members and is directly credited with several new client engagements estimated at more than one million dollars in new business.
The Firm was nominated in the mentoring category alongside several multinational AmLaw 100 firms, including Skadden Arps and Weil Gotshal, and is the smallest and only single-office entrant among the eight firms shortlisted in the category. The awards program takes place February 2, 2012 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.
When launching the marketing group, Eskenazi wanted to fill the mentoring gap she recalled when she first began practicing law. She sought to establish a comfortable, supportive environment in which younger women lawyers could learn how best to market their practices by developing their own unique rainmaking abilities, rather than adopting someone else’s style.
“Women market differently than men, especially in the legal profession. We don’t tend to take clients to ball games or have weekly golf outings.” said Eskenazi. “Our marketing group helps women focus on how to expand and solidify their unique personal and professional relationships in a way that is both comfortable and natural for them. We are grateful for the recognition from ChambersUSA.”
“Having a woman as successful as Bonnie to guide the way has helped us all enormously,” said Managing Partner Stephen S. Smith. “The mentoring that Bonnie and her group are achieving is transformational and a boost to the professional development of all of our attorneys.”
The host of the award event is Chambers and Partners, the publishers of the respected Chambers USA legal guide which provides objective analysis of the American legal market.
