May 18, 2010

Wondering if racy texts from Tiger Woods posted online by one of his (alleged) mistresses violate copyright law?  Not sure how the latest craze for 3D movie conversions might impact your next deal?  Law Law Land, a newly launched blog, published by the entertainment attorneys of Greenberg Glusker, addresses those topics and all the other “want to know” news people are texting, Tweeting and Facebooking about in Hollywood.

Offering commentary, analysis and legal context on headline-making entertainment deals and disputes, “Law Law Land” is an entertaining and educating read for lawyers and non-lawyers interested in the industry.  Recent blog posts on “Law Law Land,” include:

“Other websites may tell you what's going on, but we want to demystify the entertainment business by telling you what it all means,” said the blog’s editor, Greenberg Glusker attorney Ken Basin, whose practice includes both entertainment transactions and litigation.  “And, of course, add some humor to your day while we’re at it.”

The cadre of blogging attorneys represents a wealth of entertainment law knowledge and experience in deal-making and litigation, with expertise in intellectual property, interactive gaming, motion picture/television, music, and technology issues.

Bloggers include Aaron Moss, the Firm’s Litigation Group Chairman, who advises the copyright owners of Godzilla, Spider-Man and Iron Man, and Stephen Smith, who represented Ubisoft Entertainment in a $13 million lawsuit victory against the makers of Bratz dolls, and in a major licensing deal with author Tom Clancy.  An ongoing component of the blog includes a cooperative content arrangement with Legal Ease, a question-and-answer style blog published by Film Independent and written by Firm attorneys Matt Galsor and Jesse Saivar.

“Beyond being a great read, Law Law Land highlights the depth and breadth of our attorneys’  experience and our strategic approach to industry-defining deals and disputes,” said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Norman H. Levine. “Congratulations to Ken and his blog team for creating a compelling online destination where Greenberg Glusker attorneys can loosen their ties and shine light on emerging and exciting issues in the entertainment industry.”
