Variety Names Two Greenberg Glusker Attorneys in Dealmakers Impact Report

December 5, 2011

Greenberg Glusker today announced that Variety listed two of its attorneys, Partner Matt Galsor and Associate Alla Savranskaia, in the publication’s Dealmakers Impact Report 2011.  The attorneys were recognized among the top 45 entertainment industry dealmakers and an elite group of lawyers spotlighted for their international, A-list and new media transactions.

“Our next generation of attorneys is continuing the firm’s reputation of handling Hollywood’s most sophisticated transactions,” says Managing Partner Stephen Smith. “Matt and Alla are following the path of our resident, well-established dealmakers while also putting their own creative stamp on client opportunities that command attention across the industry.”

In its profile of Galsor, Variety highlighted his counsel to actors, directors, writers and producers in film, television and new media. His notable deals include structuring and closing Tom Cruise’s deal for “One Shot” (the currently shooting installment of the “Jack Reacher” franchise), as well as the deals for “Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “Oblivion,” and “Rock of Ages.”

Additional prominent deals that earned Galsor a nod include representing Lightstorm Entertainment in connection with the development by James Cameron and Jon Landau of lands based on James Cameron’s Avatar in Disney theme parks around the world. He also represented LStudio.com in its new media deals with Lisa Kudrow in connection with her show Web Therapy, with Diablo Cody for her show Red Band Trailer, and with Tom Hanks’ and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone for The 3 Minute Talk Show with Barry Sobel. Galsor is the co-blogger of the popular Legal Ease, an entertainment law column hosted by Film Independent, a group he mentioned as an important cause.

In its “Up Next” section focusing on emerging talent, Variety selected Savranskaia and noted her unique background as a documentary filmmaker and her firsthand understanding of production.  She has helped negotiate agreements on behalf of Philip Seymour Hoffman for the recent movies “Moneyball” and “The Ides of March.”  Savranskaia also was part of the team representing Lightstorm Entertainment on deals in connection with various projects related to the re-release of “Titanic” in 3-D.

Savranskaia, a graduate of the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), also shares a deep interest in independent production and highlighted her recent work in putting together the deal for writer-director Alonso Mayo’s feature directorial debut, “The Story of Luke,” about a young man with autism, starring Lou Taylor Pucci, Seth Green, Kristin Bauer and Cary Elwes.
