Dubs Entertainment Attorney “David to the Corporate Goliaths” for Success in Digital and Royalty Disputes, Recognizes Charitable Leadership
Greenberg Glusker Partner Bonnie E. Eskenazi was recognized by Variety’s Women’s Impact Report 2011. She was the only practicing attorney featured among more than 60 influential entertainment industry A-listers, including Oprah Winfrey, Annette Bening, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Stone, Katy Perry, Adele, Jennifer Lopez and many studio and television executives.
Variety’s feature on Eskenazi was part of the publication’s annual Power of Women event which honors leaders in the entertainment community and pays tribute to their effectiveness in championing various philanthropic and charitable causes.
In its profile, Variety highlighted some of Eskenazi’s more notable cases in her entertainment law practice. These included her high profile, successful battle to enforce the profit participation rights of the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien against New Line Cinema and the highly anticipated current litigation over digitally delivered music on behalf of the estate of Bob Marley against Universal Music Group.
“If you’re being stepped on or sparring for money with a big entertainment company – over Middle Earth, sci-fi special effects or reggae – you want Greenberg Glusker partner Bonnie Eskenazi in your corner,” stated the Variety article.
Introducing her as an entertainment attorney who “acts as David to the corporate Goliaths of the world,” the article also mentioned Eskenazi’s development of a practice area representing the interests of classical musicians. Her clients include Itzhak Perlman, Renée Fleming and Joshua Bell.
Eskenazi’s philanthropic activity is an extension of her professional skills and personal passion for music. She serves as a longtime member of the board of directors of The Festival of New American Musicals, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to bringing the arts to Southern California children who have little or no access to live music and theater.
“Bonnie makes a tremendous impact at our firm and with her clients,” said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Stephen Smith. "We are pleased that Variety sees her in a similar light, and included her with other impressive and inspirational women who are making a difference in the entertainment and Los Angeles communities.”
