Sofia Aguilar is an associate in Greenberg Glusker’s Litigation Group.  Ms. Aguilar's practice includes a variety of litigation cases in the areas of employment, business, entertainment, and real estate. Additionally, Sofia works collaboratively with her clients to find ways to substantially minimize their risk of employment litigation, wage claims and other employment related claims

Representative Experience

Employment Experience
  • Advised client in entertainment industry on rolling lay-offs of staff to comply with federal and state WARN laws. 
  • Successfully defended employer in tortious interference with contract dispute by obtaining swift dismissal with prejudice. 
  • Counsel employers on leave of absence policies and wage and hour claims. 
  • Advise employers in matters involving trade secrets, covenants not to compete, and non-solicitation provisions.
  • Advised client in complying with state and federal law during closure of plant facility.
  • Counsel employers through litigation involving the Division of Workers’ Compensation and the Employment Development Department.
  • Successfully defended employer in appeal from EDD finding of unemployment liability. 
  • Draft severance agreements and compensation packages.
Real Estate Experience
  • Successfully obtained judgment for possession in unlawful detainer action for commercial property.
  • Successfully obtained judgment against debtor in bankruptcy case and completed sheriff’s sales of debtor’s properties. 
  • Obtained civil harassment restraining order against occupant tenant as part of unlawful detainer action. 
  • Assist clients in executing judgments for possession of real and personal property.
Corporate Experience
  • Successfully settled contract dispute for refractory design and piping company. 
  • Assisted corporate client in conducting internal audit investigation.
  • Counseled securities firm through FINRA Arbitration Proceedings. 
  • Successfully obtained relief from bankruptcy stay in order to proceed with litigation in corporate dispute.
