Real Estate Experience

  • Successfully defended CityView, a real estate investment firm, in claim brought by alleged joint-venturer involving multi-million dollar condominium development in Berkeley, California.
  • Represented StarPoint Properties, a Southern California real estate investment and management company, in obtaining complete reversal on appeal of trial court decision dismissing complaint which sought right to enter tenant’s property to conduct environmental testing and awarding attorney’s fees in favor of tenant.
  • Represented numerous high wealth individuals with fraud claims against a major accounting firm and law firm arising from tax advantaged investments; the matters were ultimately settled on favorable terms for the clients
  • Represented a major motion picture producer in construction defect and breach of contract claims against a general contractor and two architects relating to the construction of a custom home; after obtaining $2.45 million in settlement from the general contractor and one architect, obtained an award in excess of $2.2 million against the other architect following a two week bench trial
  • Represented a real estate developer in a multi-million dollar partnership dispute involving the Hotel Twin Dolphin in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Entertainment Experience

  • Successfully litigated and settled breach of contract claim by DreamWorks Animation, LLC against European licensee of merchandise embodying Shrek the Third animated characters.
  • Represented numerous high wealth individuals with fraud claims against a major accounting firm and law firm arising from tax advantaged investments; the matters were ultimately settled on favorable terms for the clients
  • Represented DreamWorks Animation, Inc. in defending numerous federal and state securities fraud and derivative claims resulting from the company’s restatement of earnings based on home video sales of Shrek 2; all of the matters were dismissed with prejudice at the pleading stage following demurrers or motions to dismiss, or were voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiffs
  • Obtained dismissal (affirmed on appeal) of defamation and other tort claims against television executive Aaron Spelling resulting from publication of an autobiography
  • Represented actress Sharon Stone in claim for breach of oral acting agreement arising out of planned sequel to the motion picture Basic Instinct
