LITIGATION

 

  • Represented Warren Beatty in litigation against Tribune Media Services involving rights in and to the Dick Tracy character; obtained summary judgment of entire action in Mr. Beatty’s favor and judicial declaration that Mr. Beatty retained all rights to the Dick Tracy character on an exclusive basis
  • Represented subsidiary of the Weinstein Company against special effects company in action concerning the major-motion picture Piranha 3D; successfully obtained writ of attachment at the outset of the litigation and levied upon defendant’s equipment and bank accounts; case settled immediately thereafter on all terms requested by client
  • Represented actress Uma Thurman in action against production company concerning Ms. Thurman’s role in the motion picture "Eloise in Paris;" case resulted in seven-figure settlement for client
  • Prepared successful appellate motion for summary reversal of attorney fee award in the case of Cussler v. Crusader Entertainment
  • Successfully defended client against defamation claim brought by high-profile merchant at the historic Beverly Hills Hotel; obtained dismissal of entire complaint with prejudice under Anti-SLAPP statute; subsequent motion for attorney fees granted in its entirety
  • Defended international semi-conductor company against multi-million dollar claim alleging misappropriation of trade secrets; obtained dismissal of plaintiff's claims against client at the earliest possible stage of litigation
  • Works on a variety of commercial bankruptcy matters, mainly in creditor representations involving adversarial litigation, defense of preference actions and related insolvency issues
