LOS ANGELES, CA (April 5, 2016) –Greenberg Glusker further bolstered its employment and litigation practices with the addition of Karina B. Sterman, a partner who has nearly 20 years of experience representing privately held employers in the professional services, real estate, manufacturing, and hospitality industries. She was previously a partner with Ervin Cohen & Jessup LLP.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Karina to the firm,” said Bob Baradaran, Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner. “Karina brings the broad range of knowledge and depth of experience we are looking for as we continue to expand and grow key practice areas in the firm.”

Sterman defends companies in class action lawsuits as well as single plaintiff lawsuits alleging wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. She represents companies in administrative proceedings in front of the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the EEOC, the Department of Labor, the California Labor Commissioner and others. Sterman also has significant experience in counseling clients on leaves of absences, wage and other employment law compliance issues. She drafts employee handbooks, executive contracts and other employment related documents, and conducts training.

Other areas of Sterman’s experience include protecting companies’ valuable trade secrets and intellectual property.

"Karina brings years of trial experience and extensive knowledge in both federal and state employment laws," said Olivia Goodkin, chair of Greenberg’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. "With discrimination and wage-and-hour claims remaining front and center particularly with California’s new laws in this area, Karina will be a valuable asset to our clients in both compliance and litigation matters."

“I am excited to join Greenberg Glusker and work with the talented team of attorneys in both the litigation and labor and employment groups,” said Sterman. “The firm’s Los Angeles location and exceptional reputation made it a perfect platform for me and the continued growth of my practice.”

Sterman received her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center. She is a published author and frequent guest speaker on employment law and intellectual property matters.
