Announcement: Bonnie Eskenazi Named One of the Top 75 Outstanding Women Lawyers in USA

June 1, 2015Press Release
Greenberg Glusker Press Release

Greenberg Glusker congratulates our partner Bonnie Eskenazi for being recognized as one of the top women lawyers in the United States. Bonnie is one of the few female litigators who regularly handles landmark entertainment matters, including some of Hollywood’s most high profile disputes in film, television and music.

Bonnie has received several accolades in 2015 for her exceptional client service and outstanding legal work. In addition to being named by the National Law Journal/American Lawyer Media as one of the nation’s top 75 Outstanding Women Lawyers, she was also recognized as one of the Top 100 Power Lawyers in Hollywood by The Hollywood Reporter, acknowledged in Variety’s Legal Impact Report as one of the most influential attorneys in the entertainment industry, recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Lawyers in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and as a top media and entertainment litigator by Chambers and Partners.

While cutting edge, high stakes litigation continues to occupy the majority of her practice, as in her ongoing representation of the Estate of JRR Tolkien in its dispute with Warner Bros., she also acts as outside general counsel for the Estate of Bob Marley. In that capacity, Bonnie recently negotiated a groundbreaking and complex deal creating Marley Natural, the first global cannabis brand, navigating complex and contradictory laws among state and federal governments with little case law to provide guidance in this new and emerging industry.

In describing "Why She Matters," The Hollywood Reporter said:

She’s making Bob Marley the Marlboro Man of marijuana, helping the late reggae singer’s estate seal a first-of-its-kind deal to license his name and likeness for a brand of cannabis to be sold in the growing number of states where it’s legal (like Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and California).

In a recent profile by InsideCounsel, Bonnie explained her work on the Marley marijuana deal:

It has truly been exciting to work on the cutting edge of an industry where the law is in its infancy.  I feel like I should be wearing a cowboy hat to work every day, since this is like living and working in the Wild West.

Chambers quotes clients describing Bonnie as “smart, determined to get the best result for her client, and will not be intimidated by her opponent.”

Bonnie has proven time and again why she is continually recognized in Hollywood and in the legal industry as a prominent entertainment lawyer and litigator. We are inspired by Bonnie’s outstanding work and recognitions, and hope that you will join us in congratulating her on her recent accomplishments.
