Matt Dysart, Eric Perlmutter-Gumbiner, and Jesse Saivar Named as Top Sports Lawyers by The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter

Greenberg Glusker Partners Matt Dysart, Eric Perlmutter-Gumbiner, and Jesse Saivar have been selected to The Hollywood Reporter's Top Sports Lawyers. In this inaugural sports lawyers power list, 33 attorneys are featured for their work with A-list athletes, teams and leagues. Honorees were selected based on client portfolios, groundbreaking cases, scope of deals and for their reputation among their colleagues.

Matt Dysart acts as outside general counsel and deal advisor to talent, production companies, studios, platforms, and technology firms in support of mission-critical corporate development, M&A, and film, television, and live event finance, production, and distribution deals. Matt has negotiated content deals with the NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR, Formula 1, and USSF, and with college and pro athletes in connection with NIL / brand partnership opportunities. His practice includes the representation of leading rodeo / western lifestyle programmer Teton Ridge; hunting / outdoor lifestyle studio MeatEater; and Park Stories Productions in the development and production of a forthcoming HBO project featuring the US Men’s National Soccer Team preparing for the 2026 World Cup. He works with Jomboy Media and Front Office Sports on content licensing and talent collaborations, and represents the Red Flags Formula 1 podcast.

Eric Perlmutter-Gumbiner advises founders, investors, and companies at the intersection of sports, media, and consumer brands. With a practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and strategic partnerships, he is known for guiding clients through complex deals with clarity, creativity, and business-minded practicality. Eric played a leading role in advising firm client Jomboy Media on its headline-making partnership with Major League Baseball, which included an equity investment by MLB and a co-development initiative for original sports content and IP. He also represented longtime MLB executive Lou Wolff in the sale of his controlling interest in the Oakland A’s to John Fisher and family. In the athlete and consumer brand space, Eric served as counsel to Brand Brady, Tom Brady’s performance apparel company, from financing and general corporate matters through its high-profile merger with NoBull. He advised Harlan Sports Management in its acquisition by Excel Sports Management, forming the foundation for Excel’s coaching and executives division. Eric also co-advised Barstool Sports with Jesse Saivar on a range of matters, including its sale to Penn Entertainment and the company’s widely publicized repurchase by founder Dave Portnoy. He also represented Emma Grede in launching Offseason—a fashion-forward brand co-founded with designer Kristin Juszczyk and backed by Fanatics and the NFL—that blends luxury design with sports culture and redefines the playbook for athlete-led consumer ventures.

Jesse Saivar, Chair of Greenberg Glusker's Intellectual Property and Digital Media & Technology Groups, is a tech transactional attorney with deep experience in entertainment and intellectual property law. Saivar serves as outside general counsel to sports and pop-culture media company Barstool Sports, and has negotiated Barstool’s deals with athletes such as Alex Rodriquez and Deion Sanders. He and Perlmutter-Gumbiner assisted Barstool in founder Dave Portnoy’s nearly unprecedented, widely publicized purchase of the company from Penn Entertainment for exactly $1 and worked together on Jomboy Media’s MLB deal. Jesse oversaw the negotiations of the IP aspects of the transaction involving Steve Ballmer’s purchase of the LA Clippers and has negotiated several other IP-focused deals in the sports world, including IP licenses involving the NFL and NBA and content licenses for Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
