Corporate lawyer recognized in prestigious list compiled by Advancing Women in Technology

Katy Spillers, a partner in the Emerging Technology & New Media Practice at Greenberg Glusker, was recognized as one of the 2014 “Rising Women in Technology” by the non-profit group, Advancing Women in Technology (AWT).

“Katy is a very talented corporate lawyer who has delivered impressive results for our tech clients, ranging from entrepreneurs and start-ups to middle-market new media companies,” said Bob Baradaran, managing partner of Greenberg Glusker. “We’re very proud of her for achieving this great recognition from her business peers in Southern California.”

Spillers works with clients that are at the intersection of the technology and new media industry explosion in Los Angeles. She handles a broad range of business transactions involving general corporate, tax, and intellectual property matters with an emphasis on counseling clients on formation and tax structuring, growth strategies including debt and equity financings, acquisitions and joint ventures, as well as liquidity events such as asset or stock sales and mergers.

Spillers was selected by AWT for the annual “Rising Women in Technology” list due to her work on a number of significant matters, including:

  • Represented celebrity clients in negotiating and structuring investments in digital media and entertainment technology companies including user acquisition and promotion agreements, strategic partnerships and incentive compensation arrangements;
  • Represented a software company focused on real estate-related applications in formation and early-stage financing matters;
  • Represented high net worth client in connection with the reorganization of a mobile gaming company, the acquisition of intellectual property assets, and the formation of new venture; and
  • Represented a start-up technology company in connection with entity formation, partnership, intellectual property and tax issues and venture capital financing transactions.
