Bankruptcy Partner Keith Patrick Banner spoke with Law360 about how staffing and budget cuts are impacting the U.S. Trustee’s role in practice.

Keith Banner, a partner at Los Angeles-based Greenberg Glusker LLP, noted the U.S. Trustee's Office in Region 16, which covers the Central District of California, has appeared to be stretched thin since before 2025.

"Anecdotally, I do feel like you don't see the U.S. trustee being as active in cases, especially Chapter 11 cases," Banner said. "There have been cases where I just wondered kind of where they were, because I thought there were issues that the U.S. trustee normally, in prior years, would come in and be active on."
