Capital & Counsel: M&A lawyers are singing ‘Wait ’til next year’

Corporate Partner Andrew Apfelberg was featured in Daily Journal's newsletter, Capital & Counsel, where he discussed the slowdown in middle-market M&A activity and how ongoing uncertainty is influencing the timing of deals.
Excerpts:
"I still feel that 'uncertainty' is what slows middle-market M&A," he said, saying the third quarter saw plenty of that surrounding interest rates, the Iran conflict, and growing questions about whether AI is a "bubble" — which he characterized as a new dynamic.
"I have a lot of clients, and peers do too, signing up with investment bankers right now and planning to launch the marketing process in [the first quarter]," Apfelberg said. "To me, that also signals a desire to sit tight until the uncertainty is lessened."
