Capital & Counsel: Megadeals boom, middle market waits

Those tariffs all but shut down M&A for about three months, according to Andrew M. Apfelberg, a Los Angeles partner with Greenberg Glusker LLP who handles middle-market deals.
"Year over year, 2026 will be up over 2025 because you don't have that three months of just twiddling your thumbs," he said.
Apfelberg's own practice reflects the better outlook in 2026. He said he has already handled 11 M&A deals, mostly between $50 and $500 million, putting him on pace for a strong year.
