Ballmer Buys Clippers For $2B Minutes After Judge OKs Sale

Shelly Sterling finalized the $2 billion sale of the Los Angeles Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on Tuesday, shortly after a Los Angeles judge approved Sterling’s power to sell the team without her embattled husband’s approval.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Levanas issued a final statement of decision Tuesday, finding that Shelly Sterling had the authority to remove Donald Sterling from the trust that owns the Clippers and that the sale could proceed even if the order was contested on appeal.
