Los Angeles – Cannabis Industry leaders Michelle Mabugat and Alexa Steinberg, who work with some of the best-known cannabis brands in California, have joined Greenberg Glusker, departing from Manzuri Law in Los Angeles.

About Michelle Mabugat

Leveraging her experience as a cannabis defense lawyer, Michelle has a thorough understanding of cannabis and hemp start-up law as well as policy and regulatory compliance.  She counsels clients on a wide range of transactional and regulatory issues involving licensed and ancillary cannabis companies, adding depth to the firm’s Corporate Law Group.

Michelle is a frequent guest speaker at Cannabis Industry events, where she is typically invited to discuss best practices. In addition, she was recently nominated, among the best in the industry, for “Lawyer of the Year” by the California Cannabis Awards.  Along with Alexa, Michelle also co-authored “Legal Weed: A Comprehensive Guide to California Cannabis Law & Regulation”—one of the first authoritative books on California's regulatory landscape.

Michelle earned her J.D. from University of Southern California Gould School of Law and a B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles.

About Alexa Steinberg

In addition to her sophisticated understanding of operations and compliance, Alexa deftly navigates the ever-evolving world of local, state, and federal cannabis regulations. She works with operators through every level of the supply, production and distribution chain, preparing contracts and management agreements, as well as counseling clients on sales, purchases, and transfers of state and local licenses.

Elected in May 2019, Alexa is currently serving a two-year term on the Studio City Council Board. She frequently liaises with local politicians, business owners, and investors.

Alexa earned her J.D. from Southwestern Law School and graduated from University of California, Davis with a B.A.
