LOS ANGELES, CA (September 19, 2016) –Greenberg Glusker announced today that Priya Sopori, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Practice Group. Sopori, who was previously a partner in the Los Angeles office of Locke Lord LLP, continues the firm’s expansion as she joins other impressive and talented 2016 lateral hires: Kelly Raney (Employment Litigation), Brenda Robinson (Entertainment), Karina B. Sterman (Employment Law), and Timothy J. Toohey (Cyber Security).

“We have built a strong reputation in Los Angeles and are fortunate to be able to attract top level legal talent in key areas that are important to the Los Angeles business community, and Priya is the most recent example of this,” said Greenberg Glusker’s Managing Partner Bob Baradaran. “Priya is what we would call a “triple threat,” having outside counsel, in-house counsel, and government experience. She brings substantive knowledge of investigative and litigation matters that will be of great value to our clients.”

Sopori has served as lead trial counsel in civil and criminal jury trials on both the state and federal levels. Her diverse litigation experience includes intellectual property and entertainment matters, involving trademark, trade dress, copyright and trade secret misappropriation; music and internet/television rights, as well as international film financing. She has successfully represented her clients in both criminal and civil arenas, ranging from white collar crime and securities litigation to commercial lease and wrongful death litigation; to sexual harassment and age discrimination. She has also negotiated numerous licensing agreements and high-value employment contracts.

As an award-winning Assistant United States Attorney from 2008-2013, Sopori tried several multi-week jury trials, prosecuted defendants in the areas of white collar crime and fraud, cyber-crime, violent crime, crimes against children, drug crime, and immigration crime, resulting in more than 45 indictments and convictions. She also has in-house experience as General Counsel of The Groundlings, Inc., a legendary improv company based in Los Angeles.

"I am excited to parlay my in-house, outside counsel and government experience at a firm that has an impressive client base that can benefit from it,” said Sopori. “I was drawn to Greenberg Glusker because of its reputation as an elite full-service firm and its depth in each practice area, which is valuable to my client base.”

In the community, Sopori is a former Board member of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California and a current representative to the South Asian Bar Association of North America.  She serves on the Board of Diavolo Dance Theatre and is a member of the U.S. Executive Committee of the British-American Project.  She is an Attorney Mentor with the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity and taught White Collar Crime as an Adjunct Professor at La Verne College of Law.

This year, Sopori was named as a Super Lawyer of Southern California.

She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and earned her B.A. in English from University of Pennsylvania.
