Livestream apps pose revenue threat to hot shows, sports

When HBO’s “Game of Thrones” showed up this week on the livestreaming app Periscope, it drew a new bloody battle line in the war over online piracy.

To be sure, watching the hit show streamed secondhand from someone’s mobile phone isn’t the best viewing experience. But the fact that it was available free to potentially millions of people could be the tip of the iceberg, experts say.
