The plaintiff of this case alleges that he signed up for a newsletter from the NBA. As part of signing up for this newsletter, he gave the NBA certain information. As he signed up for this newsletter and watched the video content, some of the information about the videos he watched was transmitted to third parties. That was a violation of a law called the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA).
