Robin Williams Posthumously Blocks a New Aladdin Sequel Featuring His Voice

Given how rapidly moviemaking technology is advancing these days, it’s become easier and easier for celluloid to blend the line between the life and death of a beloved actor. Think Oliver Reed in Gladiator, Paul Walker in Furious 7, or, most jarringly, Sir Laurence Olivier in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. But when it comes to voice acting, the line gets even blurrier. The Times reports that, according to a former Disney executive, the studio had the idea to make a new Aladdin film starring Robin Williams as the Genie by cobbling together outtakes from his original time in the studio. But a clause in the late comedian’s will has blocked that attempt.
