CHICAGO — Record-setting return specialist Devin Hester and running back Matt Forte will sign one-day contracts with the Chicago Bears and retire as members of the organization where they starred.

The team says they will make it official at a ceremony on Monday. Forte had already announced he would retire as a member of the Bears. Both players spent their first eight seasons in Chicago.

Forte’s 9,796 yards rushing in 10 seasons with the Bears and New York Jets rank 33rd on the NFL’s career list. He also had 554 receptions and 14,468 yards from scrimmage — most in the NFL in the past decade. Hester holds the NFL record with 20 kick return touchdowns in 11 years with Chicago, Atlanta and Baltimore. He returned the opening kickoff of the Super Bowl 92 yards for a touchdown in 2007 against Indianapolis.
