Greenberg Glusker Private Client Services Partner, Stefanie Lipson, is slated to present "Did You Get The GST Of It? A Deeper Look Into GST Trusts And When The Automatic Allocation Of GST Exemption Will Apply" at the USC Tax Institute on January 24, 2024.
This presentation will review in detail the rules for which trusts will be treated as GST Trusts and which trusts are excluded from the definition of a GST Trust, and the affirmative election to treat a trust as a GST Trust. The presentation will also review the automatic allocation of GST exemption applicable to transfers to GST Trusts, the appropriate reporting of Indirect Skips to GST Trusts, as well as the proper (and improper) methods for electing out of the automatic allocation of GST exemption. The presentation assumes a working knowledge of the fundamentals of the GST tax and GST exemption.
