Greenberg Glusker Partner Timothy Toohey Appointed to Arbitration Panel for EU-US Privacy Shield

Los Angeles, CA – January 10, 2018 – Greenberg Glusker is pleased to announce that Timothy Toohey, partner and head of Greenberg Glusker’s Cyber Security Practice, has been appointed to the arbitration panel for the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework Binding Arbitration Program.

Designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and European Commission, The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework provides companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a mechanism to comply with EU data protection requirements when transferring personal data from the European Union to the United States in support of transatlantic commerce.

Toohey, who joined Greenberg Glusker in 2016 and launched the firm’s Cyber-Security Practice, is a United States Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), a European Union Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/EU), and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). As a certified privacy professional, Toohey has handled a wide range of privacy, data security and technology matters and counsels clients on international privacy and security issues, including compliance with the European Union Data Protection Directive, the upcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation, and the proposed EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.
