Biography
Vishwanath "Vish" Mohan (they/them; Mx.) is an attorney whose practice focuses primarily on entertainment, media, and intellectual property (IP) transactions, counseling, and litigation.
Vish has significant experience representing various artists, athletes, content creators, models, social media influencers, studios, production companies, media companies, advertising and marketing agencies, interactive entertainment/gaming companies, fashion and apparel brands, and consumer goods companies. Vish regularly assists clients in navigating all stages of their deals and disputes, including transactional advice, pre-litigation counseling, trial, alternative dispute resolution, and appeals.
Vish’s expertise is in IP law (think copyright, trademark, right of publicity, etc.) and its significance within the entertainment and media industry. Although Vish’s relationship with clients usually begins with IP queries, the clients inevitably end up considering Vish as the first stop for all their legal needs. Indeed, in addition to IP, Vish has helped clients with deals and disputes involving topics ranging from content creation, finance, and distribution to corporate structure to general business operations and management to branding, advertising, and marketing to emerging media and tools, such as blockchain/Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), metaverse, web3, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Vish is passionate about the entertainment and media industry and the societal impact it has and can have. Vish thus writes and presents on hot topics in entertainment, media, and intellectual property for various professional associations, lawyers, and clients.
Vish commits a significant part of their practice to pro bono work, especially in the immigration realm and has handled numerous such matters before the U.S. Immigration Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Vish has also authored multiple Amicus Briefs and a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States. Vish co-authored one of the two operative complaints that resulted in Rudolph “Rudy” Giuliani’s suspension from practicing law in New York. Vish has served on the Boards of various professional and not-for-profit organizations, including the Orange County Bar Association, Elder Law and Disability Rights Center, and Children’s Bureau. As an avid advocate of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Vish also works with law schools, colleges, high schools, and community centers to create pipeline programs for those from underrepresented groups.
