Matt Galsor Named to PEN Center USA Advisory Board

Chair of Greenberg Glusker Entertainment Group joins board of non-profit group that seeks to promote freedom of expression in the U.S. and around the world

Matt Galsor, a partner at Greenberg Glusker and chair of the Firm’s Entertainment Group, has been appointed to the Board of Advisors for PEN Center USA, a Beverly Hills-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting freedom of expression in the U.S. and around the world.

PEN Center USA’s membership of more than 800 writers includes poets, playwrights, essayists, novelists (for the original letters in the acronym, “PEN”), as well as television and screenwriters, critics, historians, editors, journalists, and translators.

“PEN fights to create a world in which freedom of expression is guaranteed for all writers,” said Galsor. “I’m honored to join PEN’s Advisory Board, and I look forward to contributing my expertise and relationships in the industry toward advancing the organization’s critical mission.”

PEN Center USA’s Advisory Board includes notable luminaries such as Norman Lear, Richard North Patterson and Scott Turow.

Galsor is a widely respected entertainment lawyer who was selected by California’s preeminent legal newspaper The Recorder as one of its “Attorneys of the Year 2012.” In its profileThe Recorder described Galsor’s early career working for producer Roger Corman and the growth of his practice to include representation of talent like Tom Cruise and James Cameron, as well as his novel approaches in brokering major deals in Hollywood.

“Matt’s legal expertise will be of great value to us as we seek to protect the rights of writers around the world, to stimulate interest in the written word, and to foster a vital literary community among the diverse writers living in the western United States,” said Adam Somers, executive director of PEN Center USA.

Among PEN Center USA’s various activities are public literary events, a mentorship project, literary awards, and international human rights campaigns on behalf of writers who are censored or imprisoned.
